WHAT IS THE DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN AND THE GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION

Denominations of Origin (DO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) identify products with unique characteristics linked to a specific region and its production methods. Colombian coffee was the first Colombian product to be recognized as a Denomination of Origin in 2005.

Protected Geographical Indication

In 2007, the European Union protected it as a geographical indication, followed by Switzerland in 2013 and the United Kingdom in 2020, highlighting its reputation and quality worldwide.
