Sustainability that Matters

The FNC Business Management Program strengthens coffee farms

The FNC Business Management Program strengthens the business capacity of coffee growers in efficient farm management, so that they can self-manage their businesses, be economically viable, and stay in the coffee business.

In 2018, group training was provided through three actions (farm diagnosis, renovation plan, and coffee farming technical-economic indicators), with four visits a year, to strengthen the company’s cost information and for the farmers to competitively compare themselves with similar ones.

In total, about 66,000 producers were trained in the three activities.

This specialized program of the FNC is complementary to the public goods and services that the institution provides to all producers.

It is well known that the purchase guarantee, the technical assistance by the Extension Service, scientific research and technological development by Cenicafé, and the promotion and marketing of value-added coffees are some of the public goods and services provided by the FNC.

These public goods and services, together with specialized programs such as business management, contribute to sustainability of Colombian coffee growers in the economic, social and environmental dimensions.
